Checking In & On-Board Media
We always recommend checking in to your flights the day before. You can check-in online with this link, or on your mobile phone with the American Airlines app (here is a link with more information on the app and how to download it). With American, it does not matter when you check in, so anytime the day before will work. The reason for this is in case an airline were to oversell the plane or if you were running late, they know you are coming and will not give away your seat. When you check in, they usually email you e-tickets. If you have the JetBlue app, you could also find your itinerary and access your passes directly using your record locator. Otherwise, they will have you print tickets once you get to the airport.
Download the Gogo Entertainment App now on any devices you will use in the air. Most American flights do not have screens built into the seats, and so the app will let you watch free movies and shows during your flights. You will not be able to stream Netflix or any other service while in the air, so if you want, download some movies/shows ahead of time. Make sure you pack headphones!
Baggage Information
With a few exceptions, American does not let you check any bags for free unfortunately. The first checked bag will cost $30.00 each way per person. There is a 50lb weight limit per bag, so pack accordingly to avoid additional fees! You are allowed to bring two carry on items per person; a rollaboard style carry-on bag as well as a personal item (e.g. backpack, laptop bag, etc.). See here for more information: www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/baggage/checked-baggage-policy.jsp
Airline Check-in
If you have any bags to check, or if you need to print out your boarding passes, you will need to head right to the American Airlines check-in area at the airport. For Logan Airport, this is located in Terminal B. Click here for more information on American Airlines at Logan. Manchester, Providence and Worcester airports all only have one terminal. If the airport uses self-service check-in stations, enter your flight information, where the easiest to use is your record locator. If you have a bag to check, you will indicate this at the station and pay any luggage fees at that time via credit card (again, your fare includes one checked bag). Once complete, you will receive your boarding passes and/or tags for your luggage (as applicable). If you need to check a bag, you will see desks with American agents that will help you with this. They can help you apply your luggage tags. Once you are finished with this, you will then head to security.
